Q. I've been reading up about I/O Psychology as a career path and it sounds interesting to me, because I plan to study Psychology and also am interested in Business. But I was wondering if anyone works or has worked as an I/O Psychologist, and what the experience was like and what kind of person it takes. THANKS! :) Asked by Jay - Sat Dec 23 19:26:46 2006 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. I don't have a degree in I/O, my degree is in business with a minor in psych., but I started my (true) career path in HR and worked with many degreed I/O's in HR. Most also reported to HR, either by direct or dotted line, and had a decent career path. I think that what one does on the job is probably more important than the degree they earn. My degree helped me to learn to think differently, but didn't make me smarter - or better - than those with no degree or different degrees. For my part I spent 10 years working my way to a Director of HR position and then into a Plant… [cont.] Answered by Erika C - Sat Dec 23 21:42:55 2006 Can you recommend some books about Industrial/Organizational Psychology?
Q. Can you recommend some books about Industrial/Organizational Psychology? Asked by LaserGal - Thu Aug 10 14:33:50 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. I can't remember the author, but during one of my Honors Classes, we used "Behavior in Organizations" 2nd ED. It's an excellent book, and I'm sure if you put the title through Amazon.com or Barnesandnoble.com, you'd be able to find it. Also, if you look for papers by Dr. David Lawless (one of the founders of the field), they will help shed light on the subject.
